Farina's fervor lies in field-based conservation research, with a keen focus on understanding elephant behavior and their adaptation to human environments. Her approach emphasizes community engagement, integrating local perspectives into conservation efforts. Over the past decade, Farina has devoted herself to reshaping the paradigms surrounding human-wildlife conflict management in Malaysia. Her contributions extend to her active involvement in the IUCN Asian Elephant Specialist Group since 2018 and her recent membership in the Human-Wildlife Conflict Specialist Group as of 2021. Presently, she spearheads a team of dedicated conservationists under the Seratu Aatai banner, while also serving as a senior lecturer at the Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Farina's work underscores her commitment to fostering sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife in Southeast Asia.
