What is RAYS?

RAYS stands for Rainforest Annual Youth Summit. It is an annual summit aimed at empowering young leaders, fostering environmental stewardship, and promoting sustainability in rainforest regions worldwide.

When and where will RAYS be held?

The inaugural summit is scheduled to take place from June 18th to June 20th, 2025, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia

Who can attend RAYS?

RAYS is open to youth participants from diverse backgrounds, including university students, activists, researchers, and environmental enthusiasts.

How can I register for RAYS?

Registration for RAYS is by purchase of ticket on the website ticket page. Upon completion of payment, participants will receive their tickets via email. Tickets for the 2025 edition of RAYS will go on sale in early January 2025. Stay on the lookout for the launch of ticket sales by following our various social media pages.

What language will the summit be conducted in, and will interpretation services be provided?

A: The summit will be conducted in English, and interpretation services will not be provided at this time. All sessions, presentations, and discussions will be conducted in English.

What COVID-19 safety measures will be in place?

The safety and well-being of our participants are our top priorities. We will adhere to all local health guidelines and implement necessary safety measures to ensure a secure and enjoyable summit experience for all attendees.

Is the venue accessible for individuals with disabilities?

Can I volunteer at RAYS?

Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the Rainforest Youth Summit. To ensure effective participation, volunteers must meet specific criteria. Applicants should be aged 18 and above, possess the ability to travel freely in and out of Sarawak, and arrange their own accommodation in Kuching for the duration of the event from June 18th to June 20th, 2025.Please email

Yes, RAYS will feature various 1-on-1 individual and group networking sessions, workshops, and interactive activities to facilitate connections among participants. How are travel and accommodations handled for the summit?

For the 2025 edition of the summit, participants will handle their own booking and arrangement of flights and accommodation. Participants are recommended to arrive in Kuching on the 17th of June and depart on the 21st of June.*Note: This applies to participants attending the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) who are not already based in Kuching at the time / dates of summit.

Where will participants stay during the summit?

Participants will are encouraged to book themselves in to hotels or AirBnB's located in the heart of Kuching for ease of cimmute to and from the summit venue.

What is the dress code for the summit?

The dress code for the summit is smart casual. Please dress comfortably yet professionally on all summit days.

What should I know about local currency and expenses?

The local currency in Malaysia is the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). E-wallets are widely used as well as all major credit cards. We recommend that participants plan ahead for their own personal expenses.

What additional activities are available to participants during the summit?

All participants will receive complimentary entry to the first day of the Rainforest World Music Festival on the 20th of June, 2025. Transportation will be provided for those who wish to attend, offering a unique opportunity to experience one of the region's most celebrated cultural events.

How do I get around during my free time?

For additional convenience, participants can use e-hailing services to get around Kuching. We recommend downloading the Grab app, which is widely used in Malaysia for booking rides. Kuching is also a walkable city with existing public transportation options, making it easy to explore and navigate.
