Karen Shepherd currently serves as the Strategic Director for UCCN Kuching Creative City, spearheading initiatives to promote Kuching as a City of Gastronomy under UNESCO. Residing and working in Sarawak, she has a diverse background as a writer and content creator. Her pivotal role included crafting the application for UNESCO designation, drawing from her extensive experience in narrative construction across various media platforms. Post-designation, she continues to lead Kuching's engagement within the network, contributing to its status as Malaysia's inaugural UNESCO Creative City. Actively involved in the city's creative endeavors, Karen participates in numerous events and programs. She holds an LLB in Laws from King’s College, University of London, complemented by a Master’s in Communication and Culture from the London College of Fashion, underscoring her interdisciplinary approach to urban and cultural development.
