Convenor and international Spokesperson of Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines

Mitzi Jonelle Tan is a passionate climate justice activist based in Metro Manila, Philippines, and a dedicated advocate for systemic change. As the convenor and international spokesperson of Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines (YACAP), she leads efforts to raise awareness and mobilize young people in the Philippines for climate action. In addition, Mitzi represents the Fridays For Future (FFF) movement in the Philippines and plays an active role on the steering committee of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, an initiative aimed at addressing the global fossil fuel crisis.

Mitzi is deeply committed to amplifying the voices of the Global South, particularly through her work with FFF International and FFF MAPA (Most Affected Peoples and Areas). She ensures that marginalized communities, especially those who are most impacted by climate change, have a platform to be heard in global conversations. Her activism is rooted in a strong stance on anti-imperialism and anti-colonization, recognizing the intertwined nature of the climate crisis and social justice issues. She advocates for an intersectional approach to climate action, acknowledging the links between climate change, inequality, and the exploitation of people and resources.

Through her organizing work, Mitzi envisions a world that prioritizes people over profit, with collective action at the heart of the movement. Whether through grassroots organizing, global solidarity, or advocating for policies that center the needs of frontline communities, she is unwavering in her commitment to creating a more just, sustainable, and equitable world for future generations.
